Sometimes a hot drink is all you need to heal the soul (and skin).

Before we begin cozying up for winters, let’s prepare ourselves to unwind and enjoy a relaxing cup of a hot beverage. Here are 3 simple recipes to perk-up your soul and skin this winter.

1. Hot chocolate

Who doesn’t love a thick, rich and creamy cup of hot chocolate? Here’s how you can make it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 whole bark of semi or dark chocolate
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream

Directions:

  1. Combine milk, sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder and bring it to a boil.
  2. Let it simmer and add dark chocolate.
  3. Once melted, here’s where the magic happens. For extra creaminess, add one big scoop of vanilla ice cream and let it melt on low heat.
  4. Pour it in a cup, and top it off with more chocolate and whipped cream.

2. Masala chai

Chai is definitely every desi’s love at first sight. Here’s how you can spice it up this winter.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp black tea
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3-4 pods cardamom
  • 1 small piece of ginger
  • 2 pods star anise
  • 1/4 of a full stick of cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Bring water to boil.
  2. Take a pestle and mortar or a grinder and crush the spices nicely.
  3. Add all the spices into the water. If we put the tea first it can become bitter by the time we finish our recipe., so it’s better to start with spices.
  4. Once you smell a nice aroma, add black tea and sugar and let it all simmer.
  5. Add milk and bring the concoction to a boil 2-3 times.
  6. Pour it into a cup and enjoy!

3. Golden Milk
