These days a girl should be able to survive without diamonds but what she shouldn’t be able to survive without is …. concealer!
Concealer is your secret beauty weapon, your friend, your saviour and what not! It’s there for you to cover up your unending pigmentation, highlight your features, and fade your under eye bags and red spots. Helping you look wide-awake after pulling an all nighter, and taking care of the hormonal change that takes up residence on your chin monthly, a concealer is a God’s blessing, we tell you! But it is often difficult to hunt out the right concealer which will not settle into fine lines or slide off after a few of hours of wear and tear.
Read on to find out our expert tips to keep in mind when it comes to using concealers!
How to choose the right one?
For under eyes, select a concealer that’s one shade lighter than your skin tone. For dark eye bags on South Asian skin, we propose using an orange color corrector first followed by the concealer lightly on the top. This will, with the proper application, completely hide those bags. However for the rest of your skin, choose a concealer that completely matches your foundation for a natural finish. (Thought only one concealer would give you a pro makeup look? Na’ah dear!)
Don’t forget that the skin type matters here a lot. For dry skin, it’s best to use an oil based concealer that would minimize the appearance of fine lines while in case of oily skin, an oil free mousse concealer would work the best.
When to use one?
There has been a long debate over this: what to use first? the foundation or the concealer? We believe makeup is an art and everybody has their own way of doing it. What suits you might not suit others. Apply it before foundation or after, the purpose is to achieve that flawless canvas for an on point makeup look.
How to apply it?
You can either choose a beauty blender, a concealer brush or even better… your fingers! The trick is to find the one that blends the product best with both your skin and other face makeup. However for a professional finish use a brush to apply concealer where needed and gently dab it using a damp face blender sponge.
