Fears about COVID-19 can take an emotional toll on your mind and overall well being. During this time of increased uncertainty and rapid change, it can be difficult to cope with-whether you are struggling with self-isolation, financial hardship, or working on the frontlines, or just simply scared about the future. Putting these few strategies into practice can get you through this stressful time.
Do Not Engage with Worry.
You can’t stop thoughts from entering your mind, about contracting the virus, your struggling business, or being unemployed, but you can choose to stop dwelling and you can choose to take action to solve problems. Turn your attention away, and focus elsewhere.
Look after your body.
Our physical health has a big impact on our mental wellbeing. If we are not feeling good, it can be easy to fall into unhealthy patterns of behavior that end up making us feel worse. Try to eat well-balanced meals, drink enough water and exercise regularly.
Focus on the present.
Focusing on the present, rather than worrying about the future, can help with difficult emotions and improve our wellbeing.
To stop the spread of anxiety, we must distance ourselves from the media. All anxiety stems from uncertainty and an active imagination which produces unwanted thoughts.
Do things your enjoy!
Focus on your favourite hobby, relaxing or connecting with others can help with anxious thoughts and feelings. Listen to music, watch a light comedy movie or perhaps do a spay day at home.
Talk about your Worries.
If you have felt worried, scared or helpless. Remember: it’s OK to share your concerns with others you trust – and doing so may help them too.
HANG IN THERE- YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
