How to Meditate and Why It Works

Did you know that meditation can cure stress, anxiety and even improve the health of your skin?

We all know that stress, lack of sleep, and poor diet can take a toll on our skin and overall health, but what most of us don’t know is that meditation can potentially be more helpful for our body and skin.

Meditation is a way to control anxiety and promote emotional health. It also helps enhance self-awareness, increase attention span and focus, and improve the quality of sleep. On the surface, meditation might seem like you’re just sitting with your eyes closed and breathing slowly, but what actually happens is very different.

 

How to meditate

Find a quiet place to sit down and close your eyes. You can sit cross-legged on the floor or on a chair with your feet planted on the ground. Once you settle down, concentrate on slowing your breathing, thoughts, and mind down. Try to enter a state where you’re hyperaware of your surroundings. Once you establish that, keep your eyes closed as you focus on your body and your limbs. Try to drown out any thoughts and emotions that you might be holding onto from the day. And for a second, allow those thoughts to move past you and let go.
