Trend Alert-TCA Peels.

Trichloroacetic (TCA) peels are a type of chemical peel used to treat a wide range of skin concerns.  There’s more to it- keep reading…

TCA  breaks up keratin, a protein found in the skin. This causes the keratin to stop functioning properly, lighten in color and peel away from the skin over the course of several days. As the layers of damaged skin are removed, healthier, smoother skin is revealed beneath.

The Pros.
  • TCA can temporarily reduce blemishes by deeply exfoliating the skin.
  • Lighten all types of hyperpigmentation, including freckles, age spots, dark patches and melasma.
  • Helps in improvement of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Cons.
  • Stinging sensation when initially applied
  • Redness appears.
  • Temporarily may feel a bit of numbness
  • Deep chemical peels can cause a crusting or scabbing after the treatment, as the deep dead skin cells are coming off.
  • You will need to stay out of the sun for a short time after the peel as your skin is more sensitive
